Trane® Introduces New Electrified and Energy-Efficient Solutions for Building Performance

From central plant to rooftops to multi-story buildings, Trane’s latest innovations help customers improve efficiency, expand electrified heating, and modernize building systems with greater flexibility and confidence

DAVIDSON, N.C., September 16, 2026 /3BL/ - Trane® – by Trane Technologies (NYSE: TT), a global climate innovator, is introducing new solutions designed to advance modern building performance. From higher-capacity chillers in compact footprints to flexible rooftop heat pumps and space-saving water source heat pumps, these solutions help building owners and operators improve efficiency, simplify installation, reduce operating costs and expand electrified heating options across a range of commercial building needs.

As electrification, decarbonization and the modernization of existing HVAC systems reshape the commercial building landscape, owners and operators are balancing growing building performance expectations with the realities of existing footprints, constrained spaces and evolving project requirements, all without compromising sustainability.

“At Trane, innovation is central to our mission to challenge what’s possible for a sustainable world,” said Chris Tanaka, Vice President of Product Management, Trane Technologies. “These innovations demonstrate the momentum behind our electrified heating strategy and our commitment to delivering efficient, reliable and scalable solutions that help customers simplify modernization, improve building performance and reduce emissions with greater flexibility.”

Each of these innovations addresses a different dimension of building performance, from higher-capacity central plant efficiency to electrified rooftop heating to space-conscious upgrades in multi-story buildings:

Agility® Twinplex™ Magnetic Bearing Centrifugal Chiller (Model HDTA)

The Trane Agility Twinplex™ Magnetic Bearing Centrifugal Chiller extends Trane’s proven magnetic bearing platform into higher tonnages with a compact design that supports efficient performance, installation flexibility and lower-impact operation. Now available up to 800 tons, Agility helps building owners reduce operating costs, simplify installation and support sustainability goals without compromising performance. The HDTA Twinplex configuration pairs dual compressors on the same reliable platform to maintain efficient operation across varying building conditions, while bolt-together construction and a narrow footprint simplify installation in both new and existing buildings. The chiller exceeds ASHRAE 90.1-2022 efficiency requirements, supports fast recovery after power interruptions with Rapid Restart capability and uses lower-GWP R-513A refrigerant. Options such as harmonic filters and thermal energy storage further support high-performance, lower-emissions operation.

IntelliPak® 1 Rooftop Heat Pump Units

The new Trane IntelliPak® 1 Heat Pump Rooftop Units expand electrified heating options in a familiar rooftop platform, helping customers improve efficiency while simplifying modernization and replacement projects. Available from 30 to 60 tons, the next-generation lineup builds on decades of proven Trane reliability while helping customers reduce energy use and support decarbonization goals. Designed to match the footprint of legacy IntelliPak 1 units, the new heat pumps can reduce installation complexity by eliminating the need for curb adaptors. Variable speed eFlex™ compressors and fans support ultra-high efficiency operation, while heat pumps with auxiliary modulating SCR electric heat and hybrid dual fuel heating capabilities give customers more options across a range of applications. Advanced connected controls and intuitive diagnostics support smarter operations, improved visibility, and easier serviceability.

Axiom™ Vertical Stack Water Source Heat Pumps

Trane Axiom Vertical Stack Water Source Heat Pumps provide an efficient, flexible, and space-saving solution for heating and cooling in multi-story buildings while helping support improved energy performance and occupant comfort. New enhancements include a factory-installed energy recovery ventilator (ERV) option that preconditions incoming outdoor air to help reduce HVAC energy use and equipment strain while improving indoor air quality. A new, shorter 65-inch cabinet option simplifies installation in tighter spaces and supports greater flexibility for modern building applications. To streamline modernization projects, the updated chassis design remains backwards compatible with legacy units, allowing for easier replacements while minimizing disruption during upgrades.
