Recycled Candleholder Has the "IT Factor"

(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) - December 14, 2011 - Let’s be honest.  It isn’t easy to find good-looking accessories made from recycled materials.  Too often they just look too….recycled.  However, this week’s Greenspiration Home American Made Pick-of-the-Week, a “Spindelabra” from Hipcycle, has that stand alone quality that makes a recycled product truly desirable.  It’s got style, character, functionality, and it’s 100% Made in the USA.  Tennessee to be exact.

The candleholder is made from reclaimed wood spindles recovered from demolition waste says “Chief Hipcycler” Andrew Sell.  According to Sell, over three times more waste is created from construction and demolition than from consumers.  Thus was born the entrepreneur’s dream to market products that are made solely from materials that otherwise would have ended up in a trash heap.

“If we can help divert waste from landfills or be a source of inspiration for fun and creative ways to re-use that old thing-a-ma-jig that has been sitting in your attic for years, well then, that is a win all around,” said Sell.

The company just recently launched its e-commerce site at www.hipcycle.com where it sells everything from furniture items to t-shirts. We’ve put this Spindelabra, which is available in two finishes (stained or distressed white), on our own personal Greenspiration Home wish list.  Anybody out there listening?
