(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) October 19, 2011 — SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) has been recognized among the top 20 largest green companies globally by the Newsweek 2011 Green Rankings. The rankings benchmark the environmental performance of the biggest companies in developed and emerging world markets — the 500 largest publicly traded companies worldwide, as determined by revenue, market capitalization and number of employees.

SAP ranked 20th in the Global Green Rankings, with an overall green score of 75.2 percent. In addition, the company ranked fourth globally in the “Information Technology & Services” category.   “SAP is honored that our efforts continue to be recognized in global sustainability and green rankings,” said Peter Graf, chief sustainability officer, SAP. “It validates our continued commitment to live those same principles that we are helping our customers pursue.”   Newsweek collaborated with environmental research providers Trucost and Sustainalytics to evaluate each company’s environmental footprint, management of that footprint and transparency. This included an assessment of the actual environmental footprints, management practices, such as policies, programs, initiatives and controversies, as well as reporting practices.   For a complete listing of SAP’s recognitions, visit the 2010 SAP Sustainability Report at www.sapsustainabilityreport.com/recognition.
