CHICAGO, March 13, 2017 /3BL Media/ - Northern Trust announced today that it has been recognized by the Ethisphere Institute as a 2017 World’s Most Ethical Company® for the fourth consecutive year.

“For more than 125 years, Northern Trust has kept service, expertise and integrity at the core of our business,” Northern Trust Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Frederick H. Waddell said. “Maintaining strong ethics within our company begins with our board and senior leadership and is put into action every day by our more than 17,000 employees across the globe. This honor highlights our enduring commitment to our clients and our communities.”

The Ethisphere Institute seeks to define and elevate the standards of ethical business practices.

“Over the last eleven years, we have seen the shift in societal expectations, constant redefinition of law and regulations and the geo-political climate. We have also seen how companies honored as the World’s Most Ethical respond to these challenges. They invest in their local communities around the world, embrace strategies of diversity and inclusion, and focus on long term-ism as a sustainable business advantage,” said Ethisphere’s Chief Executive Officer, Timothy Erblich. “Congratulations to everyone at Northern Trust for being recognized as a World’s Most Ethical Company.”

The Ethisphere designation recognizes organizations that demonstrate ethical corporate behavior and leadership based on an evaluation of multiple factors quantitatively calculated by the Ethisphere Institute’s Ethics Quotient (EQ). Scores for the EQ are generated in five key categories: ethics and compliance program, corporate citizenship and responsibility, culture of ethics, governance and leadership, innovation and reputation.

“Northern Trust is honored to be included on the World’s Most Ethical Companies list for the fourth consecutive year,” said Connie Lindsey, Northern Trust head of Corporate Social Responsibility and Global Diversity & Inclusion. “This recognition is indicative of our ongoing commitment to ethical business practices.”
