(3BL Media) Washington, DC - July 2, 2012 - More than 1,500 urban teens will work in paid green jobs and connect with nature this summer thanks in part to a renewed partnership between the Student Conservation Association (SCA) and Nestlé Waters North America (NWNA).

SCA President Dale Penny today announced a two-year $250,000 agreement under which Nestlé Waters will support conservation employment programs in Washington, D.C. and 20 cities across the U.S.  The initiatives will provide diverse participants with a paycheck and career skills while they make improvements to improve local parks.

“Nestlé Waters’ commitment to sustainability and focus on community make this a model partnership,” Penny states. “Together, we’re providing teens with opportunity and protecting our natural resources to ensure a better future for all.”

SCA, commemorating 55 years as a national leader in youth service and stewardship, pioneered community-based conservation programs to engage underrepresented constituencies in the outdoors, create a more inclusive conservation workforce, and ensure all American citizens experience their public lands. Heidi Paul, Nestlé Waters’ Vice President of Corporate Affairs, notes the organizations share a great deal of common ground.

“Like Nestlé Waters, SCA is a strong advocate for sustainable communities and healthy, active youth,” Paul says.  “That makes this a powerful partnership. We are proud to support the next generation of conservation leaders and an organization that is dedicated to their stewardship.”

In addition to investing in SCA programs, Nestlé Waters North America employee volunteers will join with SCA’s young conservation leaders to make improvements to Coyote Point Recreation Area in San Mateo in a joint community service project on Saturday, July 21st
