MGM Resorts employees raised over $5 million in 2014. As a result, the MGM Resorts Foundation was able to impact  251,980 individuals and families through grants for food, housing and self-sufficiency programs in that same time period. Employees raised the funds through a variety of activities, including an annual giving campaign; individual fundraising events, and an employee talent show. Employees also played in basketball, bowling and softball tournaments in an effort to raise money for a good cause. From 2002 to 2014, employees have donated $59.5 million through the MGM Resorts Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit that works with Community Grant Councils made up entirely of company employees. They vet and distribute grants to nonprofit organizations and agencies selected after a thorough application process. MGM Resorts International pays all the Foundation’s staffing and administrative costs, which allows every cent of employee donations to reach the communities they specify.
