Good news for small businesses leveraging the power of cloud computing.  According to the post, Study: Cloud computing for business uses less energy, computing is more efficient when it's concentrated in the "cloud" at giant data centers and " the greatest energy and greenhouse reductions can be achieved by small businesses with fewer than 100 users."

"Cloud providers spend a significant share of their company's operational expense on IT--much more than an average corporation with its own IT department," according to the report. "This circumstance leads to an increased focus on cost and efficiency improvement, driving optimization of data center and application performance beyond what many businesses can achieve on their own."   As mentioned in our sustainability consulting with small businesses, leveraging technology is a means to reduce emissions, increase worker productivity and also integrate sustainability concepts into the workplace.  How so?   Leveraging technology has its benefits:
  • increase organization and productivity

  • eliminate storage space

  • reduce costs

  • improve disaster recovery protection for documents

  • reduces environmental impact

Incorporating sustainability concepts into the core company vision and implementing them consistently through all business process, positions a company to be one step ahead.  Technology can do just that.  Click here to continue reading.
