First Quarter: the time of the year when business executives roll-out the company’s plans for the year and employees finalize their individual goals.   This is the pivotal moment when direction and overall mindset will be most significantly influenced for the entire year.  As I a sustainability consultant, I wonder how many executives take the sustainability spotlight?

  Taking a strategic approach to business sustainability can help align the mindset of an organization and ensure that individual actions align with the overall profitability drivers of the business.  Taking the first of the year spotlight, this is the moment when the business action and sustainability concepts can be aligned.   Our sustainability consulting finds many progressive companies already have continuous business sustainability planning cycles in place.  These companies and their executives consider changes that more accurately reflect current business sustainability risks and opportunities.  Some overarching business sustainability strategies aligned with an annual business focus often considered include:
