The Salvation Army and an “army” of volunteers from Nickelodeon and Viacommunity teamed up last Tuesday evening in downtown Los Angeles for Feast of Sharing.

More than 1,000 residents of the Pico Union area - all families - enjoyed a sit-down banquet dinner with an incredibly delicious Thanksgiving menu prepared by Food Inc, our longtime Kids Choice Awards caterer, and served by live action and voice talent from our shows.

Families walked the orange carpet and got their pictures taken with Paw Patrol and Spongebob Squarepants. DJ J Boogie acted as Master of Ceremonies once again, and craftsmen from the Nickelodeon Animation Studio’s Let’s Draw program collaborated with the kids on an immersive drawing project.

The Salvation Army's Mariachi Rayos del Sol performed. These musicians are comprised of kids from downtown Los Angeles with instruments ranging from violins to guitarrons. Mariachi Rayos plays traditional and modern songs.

The Salvation Army also took a few moments to honor Roxanne Escatel, Alison Janata, Paula Kaplan, Susan Martinez, and the Nickelodeon Talent department for their dedication to this event since its beginning 2013. Jason Everhart, DJ J Boogie, was also recognized for his multi-year commitment to this event. It was a lovely presentation and well-deserved.

The impact Nick had on the downtown area of Los Angeles during Thanksgiving over the past six years is extraordinarily meaningful. In that span of time, more than 10k people have been served, with this year being the record-breaking year.
