(3BLMedia/theCSRfeed) Oakland, CA - April 14, 2010 - Meghan Connolly Haupt sustainable fine jewelry announces today that Hollywood’s environmental leaders Ed Begley, Jr. and his wife Rachelle Carson-Begley will serve as spokespersons for the brand, which just launched on Thursday.

Ed Begley, Jr. is an Emmy-nominated actor whose commitment to sustainable living has earned him the title of “Hollywood’s Environmental Leader.” When not on the set of well-known films such as Pineapple Express, A Mighty Wind, Best In Show, For Your Consideration and Batman Forever, Ed has used his celebrity status to raise consciousness around a celebrity lifestyle with a small carbon footprint.

Ed’s wife Rachelle Carson-Begley is a talent in her own right. She recently completed roles in several independent films, including He’s Such a Girl, Mazedo, and Pittsburg, with Jeff Goldblum. Rachelle has also had a successful modeling and stage career and has performed at the prestigious LA Improv. In 2009, she was named one of the top female “Eco Heroes” by Glamour Magazine.

Though Ed and Rachelle have appeared on hit television shows such as St. Elsewhere, NYPD Blue, Boston Legal and Arrested Development, to name just a few, it is the Begley’s reality show, Living With Ed, that really sets them apart. In the show, filmed in the Begley’s self-sufficient, solar-powered home, Ed and Rachelle demonstrate that you don’t have to sacrifice luxury for sustainability, or your values for beauty.

Just as the Begley’s lifestyle is a marriage of Ed’s activism with Rachelle’s glamour and sophistication, so too is the Meghan Connolly Haupt brand a marriage of sustainability and luxury.

While Ed is more drawn to the unparalleled environmental responsibility Meghan Connolly Haupt offers, Rachelle is enamored of the designs. “I love that the jewelry doesn’t look sustainable, and knowing that there is minimal social and environmental impact associated with the diamonds make them that much more brilliant,” said Rachelle.

Each piece of jewelry under the Meghan Connolly Haupt brand is handmade in Oakland, CA from 100% reclaimed precious metals and ethically sourced gems. In most cases, the gems can be traced from mine to market and are third-party certified. Moreover, the jewelry tells a positive story of empowerment, commitment and respect - while being both alluring and fashionable.

“I really wanted to redefine luxury and make sustainable jewelry mainstream rather than radical,” said Meghan, founder and designer of Meghan Connolly Haupt, a division of C5 company, LLC.
