The post, Bicycling Beats the Odds - National Rates Hold states, "Despite predictions that the number of Americans biking to work would fall after gas prices returned to "normal" in 2009, the percentage has held steady, according to the American Communities Survey. "  Additionally, a Rodale Press survey found that Americans want to have the opportunity to bike to work instead of driving, with 40 percent of those surveyed saying they would commute by bike if safe facilities were available.
