AMD Learning Lab at KIPP Collegiate High School

School administrators and AMD recently celebrated the dedication of the newest AMD Learning Lab on the campus of KIPP Collegiate High School in Austin, Texas. The labs are designed to expand technology access to underrepresented youth and ignite their passion for STEM education.

The donation of 25 new AMD-powered computers benefits two Career and Technical Education classrooms and supports learning in robotics, engineering, graphics design and animation, engineering design and advanced computer science. Students enrolled in these courses through the Career and Technical Education program also develop career skills with the opportunity to earn certifications and gain work experience via internships.

"At AMD, we're passionate about enabling the imagination and creativity of the next generation of innovators," said Forrest Norrod, executive vice president and general manager, data center solutions group. With access to powerful technology in the classroom, students are better equipped to explore and learn. We are proud to provide these systems for KIPP Austin Collegiate and look forward to seeing what the students build with them next."

Since 2019, AMD Learning Labs have benefited students and teachers in six site communities worldwide in Santa Clara, California; Markham, Ontario; Austin, Texas; Shanghai, China; Singapore, Singapore; and Penang, Malaysia by providing technology to improve digital literacy and teach coding, robotics, video production, game design, and graphics design. The Learning Labs are in addition to other AMD engagements focused on students in K-12 and higher education.
