(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) NORTHBROOK, IL - August 24, 2011 – Allstate Insurance Company today released its annual Social Responsibility Report, entitled “When Good Hands People Give Back”. The report reviews Allstate’s community involvement and sustainability strategy, as well as goals for four major focus areas of the company during the 2010 fiscal year: the environment, stakeholders, business practices and social impact. Allstate approaches its commitment to communities and sustainability in these four areas with significant support from its agency owners and employees, and through a number of smart investments. Highlights in this year's report include:
  • Leadership on Teen Driving Safety – Although motor vehicle crashes are still the leading cause of death among American teens, Allstate and The Allstate Foundation have helped contribute to the reduction of teen driving deaths in America by nearly 40 percent over the past five years.

  • Financial Education and Services for Domestic Violence Survivors – As a leader in financial services, Allstate advises people everyday on their finances, and has helped more than 30,000 domestic violence survivors break the cycle of violence through financial education, matched savings and job readiness training.

  • Minimizing Impact on the Environment - Allstate is currently on target to meet aggressive goals in this area. Last year alone, the company reduced paper use in its home office by 41 percent and in its field offices by more than 50 percent compared with its 2008 baseline.

  • Local Involvement and Investment – The Allstate Foundation, Allstate, its employees and agency owners contributed more than $30 million to community projects in 2010. More than one third of The Allstate Foundation grants and corporate contributions support programs for multicultural communities. In addition, thousands of employees and agency owners serve as enthusiastic volunteers in hometowns across the country.
