Ethics at AECOM

Susan Frank Divers, AECOM assistant general counsel, ethics and compliance, was recently named to the Ethisphere Institute's annual list of "Attorneys Who Matter." The list comprises professionals across all areas of practice, including federal agency representatives, leading in-house counsel and top ethics and compliance officers of major companies.

Susan Frank Divers, AECOM assistant general counsel, ethics and compliance, was recently named to the Ethisphere Institute’s annual list of “Attorneys Who Matter” for the fourth-consecutive year.  According to Ethisphere, which is considered to be the global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices, this award showcases individuals from all areas of practice, representing the best and brightest in the legal field from in-house counsel, ethics and compliance officers to outside counsel.

At AECOM, Divers advises and leads the company’s ethics and compliance program, bringing more than 30 years of international compliance experience to her role.  Previously, she was a member of the U.S. Department of State delegation to the first United Nations treaty initiative combating illicit payments in the public sector.  Her experience includes qualifying and practicing as a solicitor in London and as a partner with Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal in its Washington, D.C., office.

“Being named to this coveted list in the ethics compliance category is quite an honor,” said Divers.  “It was made possible by AECOM’s leadership fully supporting and enabling our efforts to make our ethics and compliance program an effective and integral part of our brand.”

The 2014 selections of Attorneys Who Matter were based on nine criteria:

  • Recognized expertise;
  • Peer/client endorsements;
  • High-profile litigation;
  • Number of cases won;
  • High-profile clients;
  • Public service;
  • Legal community engagement;
  • Academic involvement; and
  • Other awards and recognitions.

Divers was recognized for her innovative approach to communicating ethics and compliance in a multinational and multilingual organization as well as her close partnerships with audit, communications and finance teams.  She was recently named to the New York Stock Exchange Governance Group Advisory Panel and is a frequent speaker on ethics and compliance.

“At Ethisphere, we are committed to honoring individuals who set the standard for best practices in business ethics,” said Ethisphere Chief Executive Officer Timothy Erblich. “Legal professionals are paramount to this mission and our core goal of advancing ethics within the business community. Susan truly encapsulates what it means to be a forward-thinking and influential leader when it comes to ethical best practices for organizations.”

Earlier in 2014, Ethisphere named AECOM one of the “World’s Most Ethical Companies” for the fourth-consecutive year.
