Virtual Happy Hour Offers Ways to Tip Your Bartender, Courtesy of Bacardi and PUNCH

May 20, 2020 12:05 PM ET

Missing your favorite local bartender? Wondering how to make your usual go-to cocktail at home? Now you can up your mixology game while helping bartenders whose workplaces may remain shut down and be among the last places to reopen as a result of COVID-19 social distancing.

In partnership with PUNCH, family-owned Bacardi is showcasing bar teams every day to spread the word that the bar and restaurant industry needs support, and to get money right into the pockets of bar teams. This is one of the many programs Bacardi is supporting through a $4M donation across brands under its #RaiseYourSpirits initiative.

Every day, Bacardi, in partnership with PUNCH, is putting the spotlight on bartenders across America with the ‘Tip Your Bartender’ series. At 5 p.m. ET, PUNCH and a bartender take over the live PUNCH Instagram™ stories to make a drink, talk about their bar teams and connect with fans. Viewers can thank the bartender with a tip via Venmo and, for every dollar tipped during the series, Bacardi will match it with an equal gift to the Restaurant Workers’ Community Foundation.

“‘Tip Your Bartender’ is a hybrid social initiative and relief effort aimed at not just connecting our audience to bar teams across the country, but also a way to provide financial support to those who are in need right now,” said Talia Baiocchi, Editor in Chief of PUNCH. “Bacardi has generously joined us in supporting this initiative and providing a 100% charitable match for every tip that our audience gives. It’s been such a joy to join these bar teams online each day and been a real bright spot during a difficult time.”

Bacardi support for non-profits that are providing help to the industry during the pandemic also includes Another Round, Another Rally; Core; The James Beard Foundation; Restaurant Workers’ Community Foundation; Tales of the Cocktail Foundation®, among others.

The ‘Tip Your Bartender’ series began on March 30th and will run through May 29th. Audiences can tune in to watch every day at 5 p.m. ET. on the PUNCH Instagram™ Live stories
