One of the wonderful (and challenging) things about technology is that it is ever-changing.  Wireless devices, mobile apps, and social networking platforms allow us to access content anytime, anywhere while communicating with friends and loved ones from around the globe.

In support of Internet Safety Month, I wanted to share this video compiled by the Family Online Safety Institute at the end of last year.  The video presents some interesting facts and stats about the global state of digital safety.  Many of these stats suggest that parents feel comfortable setting rules and boundaries around technology.  They also suggest that young people may not be as unaware or immune to using technology responsibly as some believe.

Verizon supports the Family Online Safety Institute’s mission to promote a culture of responsibility online and encourage a sense of digital citizenship for all.  We are looking forward to collaborating with FOSI and other internet and telecom industry leaders to launch FOSI’s “Platform for Good” later this year.  This new platform will allow parents and kids to express good digital citizenship, share experiences, provide advice and connect.  Stay tuned for more information, but in the interim, you can sign up to receive updates at http://www.aplatformforgood.org/.  For wonderful stories of how people are using technology for good, follow on Twitter at @platformforgood.
