With the rise in the standard of living across the world, protein consumption has gone up. Beef has become one of the most important protein sources in the American diet with almost 61 lbs of beef consumed per person every year. The U.S. has also emerged as the world leader in beef production and exports.

On the lines of the Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (GRSB), now a U.S. Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (USRSB) has been formed. The new roundtable comprises leading U.S. beef value chain participants, including producers, processors, retailers, foodservice operators, packers, allied industry and nonprofits. The USRSB will identify sustainability indicators, establish verification methodologies, and generate field project data to test and confirm sustainability concepts for use across the country.
