Retool Your School Program to Grant $1 Million to 30 HBCUs

After experiencing a year filled with uncertainty and unrest, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) remain crucial for minority students. According to UNCF, not only do HBCUs account for 17 percent of bachelor’s degrees earned by African Americans across the U.S., but they also generate more than 135,000 jobs.

To support these vital institutions, The Home Depot’s Retool Your School grant program is doubling its commitment to $1 million in HBCU campus improvement grants. To date, the program has provided more than $3.1 million for 87% of the nation’s HBCUs to complete 117 sustainable campus improvement projects.

Established in 2009 to prioritize HBCUs, Retool Your School strives to give back to what these educational and cultural institutions have generously given to their communities: a strong foundation, renewed purpose and distinctive character through campus uplift and beautification funding.

Voting for HBCUs in this year’s Retool Your School program will be available February 15 through March 15, and winners will be announced in April 2021. To learn more about The Home Depot’s Retool Your School program, visit retoolyourschool.com
