Opportunities to contribute towards Global Reporting Initiative's governance

March 31, 2020 /3BL Media/ - A global search is underway to strengthen GRI’s representation of different organizations and interests, across sectors and geographic boundaries, through an open call for new members to join its governance bodies.

GRI is the world’s leading sustainability reporting framework – and the only with multi-stakeholder working at the core of its governance and standard setting. Four of GRI’s decision making and advisory bodies are seeking applications from individuals of high integrity with relevant experience.

Until 10 May, nominations for new members are open for:

  • Board of Directors (five vacancies): the final decision-making authority for governance and strategy
  • Stakeholder Council (14 vacancies):  the advisory forum that supports the Board on strategic issues and business planning

Eric Hespenheide, Chairman of the Board, said:

“The strength and legitimacy of GRI stems from our independent and multi-stakeholder foundations. This is what sets us apart and enables us to deliver world-leading sustainability standards, which help thousands of organizations to disclose their impacts and demonstrate their accountability to people and the planet.

We absolutely value diversity of experience, backgrounds and roles being reflected through our governance. Therefore, I would encourage people who are passionate about sustainability and corporate transparency to consider applying – and help us deliver on our mission to ensure a more sustainable world.”
