Who knew? Ringing in the new year on January 1, 2020, brought similar feelings every new year brings: an opportunity to reset and look forward to the year ahead. I remember saying I felt like even-numbered years had always been better for me, and that I was glad to see 2019 closed out. Clearly, the universe had something else in store.

As things started to change and accelerate, it became clear that the world was in for something that we weren’t prepared for, had never seen and didn’t know what would happen next. As we began to quickly work through our corporate response, our focus areas for addressing the pandemic and what our business could do to help accelerate solutions, we also needed to step back and think about our stakeholders. Starting with our employees, we worked to ensure safe spaces to continue the production of materials that were key to COVID-19 response. We also clarified the areas in which we could support the response efforts, focusing on Virus Detection, Virus Characterization and Vaccine and Therapy Production. In an environment where we sell more than 300,000 products, a select portfolio of approximately 200 products became our focus.
