Every year, 22,000 Indianapolis students miss out on educational opportunities as a result of suspension from school. Another 1,800 miss out on opportunities as a result of expulsion or dropping out. A recent spike in crime begs the question: how do we keep these kids in school and out of trouble? Studies show that children who participate in high-quality, early education programs face fewer disciplinary issues later in life. Furthermore, these students show higher high-school graduation rates and are more likely to attend a four-year college.

Our hometown since our founding in 1876, this city represents an integral part of our past, as well as our future. We have a vested interest in ensuring it provides a safe and nurturing environment for children who could one day be scientists and researchers discovering new medicines in our labs.
