Santa Clara County is one of the wealthiest counties in the United States, yet it has the 3rd highest rate of chronic homelessness. This statistic is a stark reminder that homelessness does exist in our backyard.

But, a solution is within reach.

The cost of providing housing is less than the cost of public services spent on homeless individuals each year. Destination: Home’s work is predicated on the Housing First model, aimed at getting homeless individuals and families into housing quickly, and then providing sustainable support systems built for long-term success.

Since its inception in 2008, Destination: Home has worked closely with partners to develop and fund new strategies to reduce and prevent homelessness in Santa Clara County.

Partnering for prosperity

Ending homelessness requires the commitment of our entire community. With support from Cisco beginning in 2018, Destination: Home launched the Supportive Housing and Innovation Fund to enable the private sector to strategically and seamlessly partner with local government, leverage public funding, and share in a joint approach to prevent and end homelessness.

Over the next five years, Cisco’s support will enable:

  • Acquisition of land and production of supportive housing
  • Pioneering technology to improve services for the homeless
  • Exploring and piloting innovative strategies to prevent homelessness

Together, Destination: Home and Cisco have provided prevention assistance to over 500 households in the Silicon Valley. To date, our investment has facilitated 290 new ELI/supportive housing units currently under development.

Over the next 8 years with its partners, Destination: Home will support the goal to create 6000 homes on its journey to end homelessness in Silicon Valley.
