In response to the devastation following Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, AECOM has partnered with USAID to implement the Be Secure Project, which aims to promote good governance, improve capacity in water security, improve access to water and sanitation services, and build more-resilient communities.

Eight steps to build a more-resilient Philippines

One year ago, Typhoon Haiyan (known locally as "Yolanda") struck the Philippines, killing more than 6,000 people and directly affecting 16 million others. It caused extensive damage to water systems, schools, hospitals, health facilities and other infrastructure. 

Working in partnership with the U.S. Agency for International Development on the Water Security for Resilient Economic Growth and Stability known as the “Be Secure” project, AECOM offers a unique perspective on the eight steps necessary to make the Philippines' infrastructure more resilient.
