(3BLMedia/theCSRfeed) BOSTON, MA - January 11, 2011 - Ceres announced today that it is has approved CA Technologies, a global IT software management company, as a Ceres network company. The New York-based company is the first software firm to join the Ceres company network.

Founded in 1976, CA Technologies is an IT management software and solutions company with expertise across all IT environments - from mainframe and distributed, to virtual and cloud. CA Technologies manages and secures IT environments and enables its customers to deliver more flexible IT services. In June, the company announced the availability of its latest version of CA ecoSoftware, an energy, carbon and sustainability management solution designed to help organizations reduce carbon emissions, manage resource consumption and cut energy costs. CA ecoSoftware customers are in a diverse range of industries including retail, information technology, leisure and hospitality, government and professional services.   Internally, Cynthia Curtis, CA Technologies Chief Sustainability Officer, is working to build accountability for sustainability performance at the highest levels, recently announcing that the company’s Corporate Governance Committee will formally provide sustainability oversight at the board level, a key step for any company wanting to improve its sustainability performance.   “Ceres looks forward to working with CA Technologies to boost its already-strong commitment to sustainability, both within the company and for its diverse customer base,” said Ceres President Mindy Lubber. “Through its cutting-edge CA ecoSoftware sustainability solution the company has the potential to address some of the world’s largest sustainability challenges, such as climate change and growing water constraints – and it is our goal to help them get there.”   “Joining the Ceres company network is a natural step for CA Technologies, as we believe that technology will help solve many of the largest environmental problems facing our planet,” said Bill McCracken, CEO of CA Technologies. “While we have high standards for our own sustainability program, we also have developed the CA ecoSoftware solution that helps companies manage their energy and sustainability efforts. Our participation with Ceres further enhances our overall commitment to sustainability.”   CA Technologies will work in partnership with Ceres to increase stakeholder engagement, improve its own disclosure and develop a comprehensive sustainability strategy using the “21st Century Corporation: Ceres Roadmap for Sustainability” – a powerful tool for helping companies integrate sustainability across their entire business platform.   Companies that join Ceres must commit to make continuous improvements in sustainability disclosure and performance by engaging with investors, environmental groups and other stakeholders that are part of the Ceres coalition.   About Ceres
