November 7, 2013 /3BL Media/ - Bombardier Inc. was recognized as Canada’s top Research and Development (R&D) spender by Research Infosource, moving to first place in fiscal 2012 after posting research spending of $1.9 billion, up from $1.3 billion in fiscal 2011.

Bombardier is delivering the Evolution of Mobility by creating better ways to move the world. With seven aircraft in development and the widest array of rail mobility solutions in the industry, Bombardier is creating the most advanced mobility solutions that safely move people across cities, countries, and continents in a more environmentally-responsible way.

Effectively implementing transportation solutions will be critical to addressing urban sprawl and pollution, while at the same time ensuring the prosperity and productivity of these cities.

Our business is responding to these challenges by bringing to market new transportation solutions that are shaping a new future for mobility. For example, the CSeries commercial aircraft, promises to deliver a 20% fuel burn advantage and 20% fewer COemissions than any in-production aircraft in its segment1. Our Learjet 85 sets a new standard in environmental performance in the midsize category.

In our Transportation business, our ECO4 portfolio of technologies is paving the way for a new era in rail technology. The ECO4 portfolio reduces overall energy consumption on trains by up to 50% compared to current solutions and reduces emission by up to 80%, thereby minimizing carbon footprints. Our PRIMOVE transportation system moves cities into the future responsibly, offering ways to charge all types of electric rail and road vehicles—including trams, buses, cars, and trucks—without the use of any overhead wires. It eliminates the traditional constraints of cables, wires, and plugs, and makes urban transportation more flexible, more convenient, and safer.

As we look ahead, we aim to continuously find better ways to bring people together through responsible, safe, and reliable mobility solutions.
