DENVER, May 29, 2019 /3BL Media/ – Arrow Electronics has teamed with Apps & Girls to bridge the tech gender gap in East Africa, by helping girls and young women expand their information technology skills. Apps & Girls provides coding training and entrepreneurship skills to girls in secondary schools in Tanzania. The social enterprise also offers mentorships to girls to create tech startups, connects them with jobs and internships and promotes their work to customers, partners and potential funders.

Arrow will support Apps & Girls in its effort to launch a mobile app, Kimya Kimya, to improve access to reproductive health services and related treatment in East Africa.

Arrow’s alliance with Apps & Girls was facilitated by the East Africa Fund (EAF), which unites resource-seeking organizations in Tanzania and Uganda with global philanthropists.

"Together Arrow and Apps & Girls are proving that African-led tech solutions are creating innovation for a brighter tomorrow,” said EAF Founder Samantha Temple.
