NORTHBROOK, Ill., February 23, 2015 /3BL Media/ – Allstate’s Chairman and CEO, Tom Wilson, was honored today by his peers with the prestigious Collaboration Force for Good Award from CECP. Wilson was recognized for his leadership in rallying fellow CEOs to protect and empower youth and domestic abuse victims.

CECP, a coalition of 150 CEOs who believe that societal improvement is an essential measure of business performance, presented the award to Wilson at the annual CECP Board of Boards gathering in New York.

“This is a distinct honor from my peers, and one that completely aligns with Allstate’s mission to be a force for good. American businesses have an opportunity to use their resources and influence to make a positive difference in their communities,” said Wilson. “As leaders, we must produce both short-term performance and sustainable change. We have the responsibility to rise up, get involved and take action.”

This is the second year that CECP’s Board of Directors has presented the Force for Good Awards. The CECP Board selects individual CEO recipients based on their leadership in changing the dialogue on the role of business in society, and who are a force for good in their communities.

Wilson was honored for co-founding Get In Chicago, a private/public partnership started in 2013 to address youth violence in Chicago. He has been instrumental in engaging fellow business leaders in the organization and in raising nearly $50 million to support research-based strategies to prevent violence, and improve safety in neighborhoods across the city. Wilson is also active in expanding We Act across America which enables students to support local and international social causes.

Wilson was also recognized for addressing domestic violence, an issue that only recently has become part of the national discourse. Ten years ago, Wilson called on The Allstate Foundation to commit to helping end domestic violence through financial empowerment of survivors. In partnership with The National Network to End Domestic Violence, The Allstate Foundation has provided more than 580,000 survivors with financial skills and resources to help break free from abuse, and invested more than $43 million in financial empowerment services.
