CAMPAIGN: Getting to Impact

By Andy Cummings

The Center for Effective Philanthropy released a report that showed 64% of nonprofits feel they don’t receive enough support from their grant partners, especially when it comes to reporting on results. Understanding, evaluating and improving your performance – or impact – is becoming a top priority for nonprofits and foundations alike.

But measuring (and increasing) impact is not an isolated process for anyone. As Wendy Watson-Hallowell from The Rensselaerville Institute points out, “Your grant partner’s results are your results, so it’s in your interest to help them succeed.” So I’m going to share three key steps you can take to begin understanding, improving and communicating impact for both your organization and your grant partners.

By taking steps toward understanding impact you can make more informed decisions, maximize the investment of your philanthropy, tell better stories and save time with a system that automatically collects data and results. Overall, you get back to focusing on what really matters – engaging with partners, your mission and impact.

So what are some steps you can take right away to get to impact?
