There’s no denying that we here at Greenopolis think that it’s cool to recycle beer bottles. We’ve shared a few stories about some amazing recycled bottle designs: Buzzed on Beer and “Hooked” on Recycling; Building with Bottles and One Million Buddhist Beers on the Wall, One Million Buddhist Beers… Now I’d like to introduce you to an eco artist that uses “Nature as a Muse” to inspire his recycled beer bottle glass art. His name: Brian Western from Minnesota. His company: Western Art Glass.
Brian’s Western Art Glass shop is featured on the independent artist website Etsy. His profile page says: “I'm the slightly bemused (not to mention rumpled), fellow you see outta the corner of yer eye - contemplating the meaning of life, permanence and decay, nature as muse and Ecclesiastes. I enjoy the full contact of wrestling a curving leaf from the side of a discarded beer or wine bottle, and conjuring a pair of beerrings, a twirling leaf or a graceful floating mobile - salute!” Sounds intriguing, right? It did to me, so I had to see for myself what kind of artwork this Thoreau-esque man produced.
I was pretty amazed at his recycled beer bottle designs. Here are a few of my favorites:
