William Kircher, Eugene Heng and Dave Smith discuss water education ideas while walking along the water treatment pond at the Lorong Halus wetland.

Pratt & Whitney, a unit of United Technologies Corp., has marked a major environmental milestone with the reduction of annual water consumption by more than 12 million gallons a year across its Singapore operations, the equivalent of more than a half a million ten-minute showers.

Pledging to make every drop count, Pratt & Whitney identified several areas to reduce water usage across its Singapore operations. By implementing effective water conservation practices, Pratt & Whitney made significant improvements and has achieved a reduction of 40 percent in water consumption since 2000, demonstrating a record of leadership, achievement and commitment.

"Environmental sustainability is an important part of our business. We always strive to maintain the highest standards everywhere we operate and institute meaningful long-lasting environmental initiatives," said William Kircher, vice president, Pratt & Whitney's Singapore Overhaul & Repair, and president, UTC Aerospace Singapore. "Integrating environmental issues into the business model is part of our commitment to partners, employees and the communities where we live and work."
