Nov 25, 2014 12:30 PM ET

As Thanksgiving approaches, we focus on family and friends.  We celebrate our longstanding traditions and whether we realize it or not, we are also creating the memories and moments from which legacies are born.

John Anderson Lanier, director of the Ray C. Anderson Foundation, and grandson of the late Ray C. Anderson, shares his thoughts on Ray Anderson's Legacy at the recent Boy Scouts of America Sustainability Summit in West Virginia.

The Foundation also received the Boy Scouts of America's Sustainability Vision and Leadership Award.
