The 3BL Media video team was on location at the 2012 VolunteerMatch Client Summit to capture footage and insights from the annual event. This series of videos captures comments from thought leaders and practitioners about effective community involvement programs.

Vicky Hush is spearheading our newest and fanciest job title at VolunteerMatch: VP of Strategic Partnerships and Client Relations. So it made sense for her to participate in the keynote panel at the 2012 VolunteerMatch Client Summit, “Breaking Down Barriers to Active Engagement,” along with some of our good friends in the fields of CSR and cause engagement.

In this video, Vicky talks about the unique aspects of VolunteerMatch’s work with companies, how it enables us to be sustainable as a nonprofit, and it supports our work with nonprofits and volunteers. After all, it always comes back around to connecting good people and good causes.

Vicky also describes the typical evolution of a company’s employee volunteer program, beginning with employees choosing whatever they want to work on, moving into a focus on the business values of the company, and finally maturing to find the best balance between employee choice and business alignment.
