Save Water: Wash Your Hands in the Toilet!

Every time we use the toilet, we wash our hands, right? At least Mom told us to.

And every time we flush the toilet, more fresh clean water comes into fill the tank for the next flush. Does that strike anyone else as wasteful? Using perfectly clean water to flush away #1 and #2? Why not use “used” water?

Well apparently the folks at Sink Positive got to thinking the same way, because they came out with a nifty little hand washing sink that replaces the tank lid on your toilet to let you wash your hands after your last flush, with the water coming in for the next flush. This unit installs easily, and soon you can be making your toilet water do double duty before you flush it away. Because it’s cool water, kids especially love it. And a little soap in the tank water will keep your bowl a little fresher and cleaner too. This is not an earth shattering development, but something to make a little bit of a difference in a place we all use every day.

So use that water twice before you flush it away! Save water- wash your hands in – or over-the toilet!
