Merck Earns 2019 Energy Star Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award​

Merck is proud to announce that it received the 2019 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award for continued leadership and superior contributions to ENERGY STAR. Merck has been named a Partner of the Year for 14 years in a row, and in Sustained Excellence for 12 years. ​

“Merck is committed to inventing medicines and vaccines for many of the world’s most challengingdiseases.  In support of our mission to invent for life, we are proud of the continued efforts and commitment of our employees who have helped us receive ENERGY STAR’s top honor,” said Don Watson, vice president, global workplace and enterprise services. “Through our partnership with the ENERGY STAR program we will continue to look for opportunities to be an industry leader in our efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reduce water consumption, reduce waste, and increase our use of renewable energy sources.” ​

The Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award is the highest honor among ENERGY STAR Awards. The honor recognizes partners that have already been named Partner of the Year for a minimum of two consecutive years and continue to lead in energy management in both the pharmaceutical and industrial sectors. Merck has been an ENERGY STAR partner since 1995. ​

Merck’s recent achievements in energy management include obtaining the ENERGY STAR Certified Building label for four of its buildings in 2018: Whitehouse Station West in Whitehouse, New Jersey, Kenilworth Data Center in Kenilworth, New Jersey, Upper Gwynedd, Pennsylvania and West Point B39 in West Point, Pennsylvania. Merck’s manufacturing site in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico, also received ENERGY STAR Certification in 2018 for the 10th consecutive year. ​​
