How much time are you willing to dedicate to reducing your carbon footprint? A lifetime? A year? A week?

How about an hour?

Earth Hour, that is. Whether you’re just beginning your quest to live greener or you’re a seasoned veteran of reducing, reusing and recycling, participating in Earth Hour is a great way to raise awareness about climate change, global warming and environmental issues!

This Saturday, March 23 from 8:30pm till 9:30pm (your local time) marks Earth Hour.  Earth Hour is an initiative to encourage individuals, businesses and organizations to turn off the lights for just one hour –- a symbolic act that helps reduce carbon emissions around the globe. Visit the official Earth Hour website here to learn how you can make a difference and to discover how people around the world will participate.

A Brief History:

Earth Hour started in Australia in 2007, with more than 2.2 million people and 2,000 businesses turning out the lights. In 2008, Toronto, CA was the first city to join the Australian movement. By 2012, according to the World Wildlife Federation, 1.8 billion people in 152 countries participated.

Earth Hour 2013:

Let’s make a bigger impact this year! Make it happen at your home or office! This small, symbolic act of turning out the lights for an hour is a wonderful way to show your commitment towards an eco-friendly lifestyle!

Mark your calendar for March 23rd at 8:30pm and take our challenge: Commit to participate this year and spread the word/encourage one friend or family member to join in! Together, we can make a difference.
