Clarivate recently became a partner with Global Mentorship Initiative (GMI). We see its mission as a way that we can actively change the world. GMI programs provide students with role models to provide guidance, business skills, and sometimes job opportunities when they graduate.

GMI is a non-profit organization that is designed provide underserved college students through online mentorships. GMI was created from the Rockefeller Foundation’s Digital Jobs Africa Initiative to help prepare students for their first career job using a training model that makes it easy for business professionals to be great mentors. As GMI grows it is reaching out to other underserved populations across the globe.

GMI mentors are business professionals just like you and me. As a Clarivate colleague you can participate in this rewarding experience and use your volunteer hours while you are at it. The initiative matches you up with a mentee and provides you with all the tools and guidelines for a successful mentor relationship. Your time with your mentee It consists of 14 one hour session.

I have found through my years as a Mentor that I frequently get as much if not more out of the relationship as the mentee. Don’t take my word it. See what fellow colleagues have said about their mentoring experience:

As I think about my experiences here at Clarivate, one of the most fulfilling stands out among the rest – that is my role as a mentor with the Global Mentorship Initiative. For an hour a week, I’m able to help a remarkable senior in college learn how to build her professional network, interview for her first job, and create the positive work habits that will make her stand out as she grows in her career. It’s my greatest privilege to be a small part of changing the world, one conversation at a time….

The Global Mentorship Initiative (GMI) has been an incredible experience for me. I have the privilege to work with an enthusiastic, bright, and motivated mentee, a former refugee living in Rwanda, who is now building her career to help other refugees embrace and advance their education and life opportunities. What a tremendous opportunity to have a positive impact and connect personally in being part of something bigger than oneself.
