CENTENNIAL, CO, October 31, 2017 /3BL Media/ - Arrow Electronics joined 221 other companies in participating in the recently released Women in the Workplace 2017, a comprehensive study of the state of women in corporate America. The research, featured as part of a Wall Street Journal special report, is part of a long-term collaboration between LeanIn.Org and McKinsey & Company to give organizations the information they need to promote women’s leadership and foster gender equality.

“Arrow is committed to fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion, both inside our four walls and among the broader tech community,” said Gretchen Zech, senior vice president and chief human resources officer at Arrow. “We guide innovation forward for some of the biggest tech companies in the world, and recognize that our diverse workforce and leadership pipeline is critical to that success. Our strategy is straight-forward: we intentionally grow our talent pipeline with a wide and inclusive net because we know innovators are found wherever we choose to look.”

“This research provides clarity and transparency about the challenges that women, particularly, face in corporate life today,” Zech continued. “And, such insight prompts the springboard for corporate innovation across this and, ultimately, all talent ecosystems. At Arrow, we are clear-eyed and intentional about human enterprise that assures interchange between employees across traditional lines of demarcation and demolishes institutional barriers that block excellent business results. I commend Women in the Workplace for bringing continued focus on this critical business topic of women in the workplace, moving the diversity and inclusion talent imperative forward.”

Women in the Workplace 2017 found that women remain underrepresented at every level in corporate America, despite earning more college degrees than men for the last 30 years. While corporate commitment to gender diversity is at an all-time high, the report also found that progress continues to be slow.

The 222 companies that participated in the study collectively employ more than 12 million people. In addition, more than 70,000 employees completed a survey designed to explore their experiences regarding gender, opportunity, career, and work-life issues.
