Centennial, Colo. – Arrow Electronics hosted the last board meeting and a networking event last week at its global headquarters for fellow Colorado STEM Champions working to advance Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education in the state.

STEM Champions are companies, foundations and individuals contributing financial resources of at least $30,000 over three years to support implementation of the Colorado STEM Education Roadmap. They also dedicate their time and talent as a member of the STEM Champion Board and the STEM Advisory Committee.

“Arrow Electronics is always looking for opportunities to collaborate with other Colorado-based companies and organizations to guide innovation forward for all Colorado students,” said Alex West, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) manager at Arrow. “Developing a diverse pipeline of qualified, local tech talent ensures that the growing number of businesses based here can compete successfully in the global marketplace.”

Attendees at the Arrow-hosted networking event had the opportunity to meet with leaders from current and new STEM programs accepted into the Colorado STEMworks Database. Now in its second year, the Database helps identify effective, expertly vetted STEM programs that business leaders, funders and advocates may want to support. Colorado is only one of three states, along with Arizona and Iowa, to have developed such a database of high-quality, proven programs. A joint effort of the Colorado Technology Association and Colorado Education Initiative, the Database currently includes 21 youth STEM programs in Colorado.
