The United Way of Southeast Louisiana has named Entergy Chair and CEO Drew Marsh and his wife, Lynn, as their 2026 Alexis de Tocqueville Award recipients, recognizing their exceptional community leadership and philanthropic commitment. The annual gala honors individuals whose vision and service help mobilize people and resources to expand opportunities for families across the region.

> “Drew understands that strong communities don’t happen by chance. They grow when businesses, government, nonprofits and neighbors come together around a shared purpose,” said Michael Williamson, United Way of Southeast Louisiana president and CEO. “Throughout his career — through his leadership at Entergy and work with Lynn on philanthropic and community endeavors — Drew has been able to bring people together, inspire action and open opportunities for families across our region.”

This year’s gala, themed “Power the Next Chapter,” highlighted the Marshes’ long-standing commitment to education and literacy. However, they are also strong advocates for programs focused on workforce development, hunger relief, assistance for the unhoused community and emergency assistance — initiatives that drive long-term, measurable change across Southeast Louisiana.

> “Lynn and I believe deeply in the power of community — in looking out for one another, lifting up families and building a region where everyone has the opportunity to thrive,” Marsh said. “Tonight’s honor strengthens our resolve to continue that work.”

Marsh emphasized the award reflects not only his service but also the commitment of Entergy’s 12,000 employees who volunteer, donate and support communities with purpose every day. During the 2025–26 United Way campaign, Marsh served as Campaign Cabinet chair, bringing together business and civic leaders to advance youth opportunity, financial stability and healthy, resilient communities. In 2025 alone, Entergy’s employees contributed more than 169,000 volunteer hours, valued at $5.8 million — a reflection of the company’s culture of service.

> “Our employees are the multiplier of our impact,” Marsh said. “This recognition reflects their service just as much as ours. I am privileged to lead such a community-minded, socially committed organization.”

Marsh also reflected on the legacy of former Entergy CEO Wayne Leonard, a past Tocqueville honoree who instilled a deep focus on supporting vulnerable customers. Photographs Leonard hung outside his office decades ago — still displayed today — serve as a reminder of the people behind Entergy’s mission.

During the event, Entergy was also presented with the award for most Tocqueville donors among businesses in Southeast Louisiana, accepted by Michelle Delery, Entergy’s vice president, corporate internal and external communications and a trustee and executive board member of the United Way. “We are honored to receive this recognition, but this is not the reason we give. We give because we believe in the mission and we deeply care about the people of Southeast Louisiana who we serve,” said Delery.

Featured speaker Vyctoria Estopinal, put a face to the very people positively impacted by contributions to United Way. She delivered a moving testimonial about the life-changing impact United Way has had on her family.

> “Because someone gave, my son found stability, and I found a pathway forward,” Estopinal said. “United Way didn’t just help me buy a home — they helped me rebuild my future. Today, I stand here not defined by my circumstances, but empowered to help others find hope, because someone believed in me when I needed it most.”

More than 270,000 Entergy customers live at or below the federal poverty level, and nearly half are ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) households experiencing financial instability. Marsh noted that addressing these realities remains central to Entergy’s long-term community partnerships and charitable investments.

The recognition of Drew and Lynn Marsh ultimately highlights the collective impact made by Entergy’s employees — demonstrating that when people work together, they make powerful things possible for the communities they serve.
