Achieving LEED Gold Certification came from a combination of using locally-sourced materials during construction to minimize environmental impacts of transporting supplies, and putting systems in place for long-term energy efficiency and waste reductions. For example, LED lighting, intelligent controls and use of natural lighting work together to save energy and provide a comfortable workspace for occupants. In another instance, focusing on plumbing fixtures has enabled a 42 percent reduction of water use.
