# In Silicon Valley, Samsung Engineers and Designers Put Tech Aside and Help Fight Hunger on Day of Service

**WHAT:** Employees from Samsung’s Research and Development center in North America will spend the day packing up fresh food to give to those in need at the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara. Since 1974, the food bank has made it its mission to end hunger in the local community. It provides groceries and supplies to about 250,000 people every month. Samsung employees have been volunteering their time at the food bank for years, even before the Day of Service program began in 2014.
The occasion marks Samsung’s fourth semiannual Day of Service. Across the country, more than 4,000 Samsung employees are donating approxi mately 16,000 hours of service to more than 50 organizations. Since Samsung’s first Day of Service in October 2014, our employees have donated a total of more than 45,000 hours of service to 65 organizations nationwide.
At Samsung, we believe in being an active corporate citizen, investing in the communities where we work and live. Our employees power our drive to make the world a better place. During our semiannual Day of Service, our offices across the country – from New Jersey to California – close and our employees spend time supporting local and national charities and organizations.
