"Scotiabank extends its deepest condolences and is thinking of everyone impacted by the tragedy involving the Humboldt Broncos," says Sloane Muldoon, Senior Vice President, Prairie Region, Scotiabank. "We applaud the efforts of STARS and all first responders and thank them for everything they did at the site of the accident and beyond. The remaining $250,000 will be directed as we work closely with the community to determine where the need is greatest. We stand with the hockey community and Canada in supporting Humboldt now and in the future." Three STARS helicopters and medical crews from Regina and Saskatoon were dispatched to the Humboldt tragedy. The STARS Emergency Link Centre coordinated, assisted and dispatched resources over an eight hour period, and STARS transport physicians provided hands-on care as well as guidance and assistance remotely. STARS is funded by individual donors, service groups, corporate donors and government contributions and provides rapid and specialized emergency care and transportation for critically ill and injured patient, operating from bases in Calgary, Edmonton, Grande Prairie, Regina, Saskatoon and Winnipeg.
