The [Forum of Young Global Leaders](https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2019/03/meet-the-2019-class-of-young-global-leaders/) (YGLs) aims to do just that. It brings together a diverse, dynamic, and globally representative group of leaders with the mission to create a community with the vision, courage, and influence to drive positive change in the world. With more than 1300 members and alumni representing over 100 nationalities, the YGL community includes leaders from Fortune 500 executives, heads of government, Nobel Prize and Academy Award recipients, UN Goodwill Ambassadors, and social entrepreneurs. Each year, thousands of candidates are proposed through a public nomination process, but only the best 100-150 new members are selected. Their common denominator—an unwavering desire to contribute meaningfully and forge a better future for the public good. Ruba brings a strong combination of deep technological understanding, long term experience in technology transformation strategy, and a depth of understanding and intuitive ability around organizational dynamics to execute on strategic objectives. In Cisco’s Managed Services business, Ruba’s team helps customers transform their technology environments to better meet the demands of their business. In addition to her technology and business prowess, she uses her passion and expertise to positively impact the broader community and planet. She is a leader devoted to promoting diversity in the workplace, a mentor deeply engaged in the personal and career development of others, and an advocate for the availability of education to everyone. She is a champion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math education (STEM), actively sponsoring programs like Girls Power Tech and is a member of the Tech Museum of Innovation’s Board, where she’s helping the Tech scale their education curriculum globally. In Ruba’s last role as Chief of Staff to Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins, she worked with the World Economic Forum and 10 other technology companies on the development of a technology skills platform to help train individuals whose jobs will be displaced by automation. Ruba is also an executive sponsor of Cisco’s Wildlife Conservation Program, promoting her passion for the key role technology can play in the conservation of endangered species. With her track record of business leadership and philanthropic efforts, Ruba exemplifies what it means to be a YGL. Over the course of this five-year leadership program, Ruba and the YGL community will use their collective talents and influence to be a force for good—a force aimed at tackling societal, environmental, and political challenges. By pooling their diverse skills, experiences, and networks, they will be able to achieve more together by identifying ways to scale up, amplify, and accelerate their impact to make more of a difference in their communities and beyond.
