The team will help open a new recycling and water distribution site, as well as collect empty water bottles, distribute recycling bags and bins, and enroll residents in the City’s recycling program. “It is inspiring to see our community pull together in a time of emergency,” said Gary Hicks, manager municipal services with Republic Services. “We are especially proud of the response by Flint residents to the City’s recycling program. The commitment to recycling in Flint has never been greater.” Republic has been enrolling roughly 200 residents per day in the City of Flint’s recycling program during the ongoing water emergency. Residents receive a recycling bin within about 48 hours of enrollment in the program. Residents not currently participating in the City of Flint’s recycling program may enroll by calling [1-800-438-0966](tel:1-800-438-0966). We ask that residents have their name, address, and phone number ready when calling to enroll. Recycling collection and water distribution will take place on Friday, February 5, from noon to 4:00 p.m., in the parking lot of the Northwest Shopping Center. The new site is located at 2629 West Pierson Road, in Flint, which is at corner of Clio Road and W. Pierson Road. Media is invited.
