Highlights from the 2012 report include: - Expanding their product portfolio, as well as local development and distribution capacity, through important joint ventures - Developing new partnerships to reduce maternal mortality through *Merck for Mothers* - Celebrating 25 years of scientific discovery, visionary leadership and extraordinary commitment to advance the control of river blindness, or onchocerciasis, in sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and Yemen - Improving wastewater quality – specifically, chemical oxygen demand (COD) – by 57 percent, and nitrogen and phosphorus by 13 percent since 2009 - Achieving a 20 percent reduction in employee lost time injury rate In addition, this year’s report provides information on Merck’s commitment to corporate responsibility within their Consumer Care and Animal Health businesses.
