The Company continues to build on its position as one of the world’s largest and most geographically diverse defence and security companies. It is committed to creating a culture of Total Performance encompassing customer focus, financial performance, programme execution and responsible behaviour. To reflect its integrated approach, the company now reports corporate responsibility performance in its Annual Report. This year's report demonstrates the progress the company is making in its corporate responsibility agenda. It focuses on the company's strategy and performance in key areas of business conduct, safety, diversity and inclusion, environmental sustainability and community. And also provides a clear statement about how the company intends to continuously improve performance in this area. Our 2010 report highlights include: \- The introduction of Responsible Trading Principles, informing the decisions about the business opportunities the company pursues and the suppliers the company works with. \- The steps the company has taken to implement the 23 recommendations made by the Woolf Committee, an independent external committee appointed by the company's Board and led by the former Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales. \- The focus on ‘Safety First’ is continuing to improve safety performance. \- In 2010 BAE Systems reduced the total number of employee injuries by 10% and major injuries by 30%.
