On March 8, people worldwide will recognize International Women's Day, highlighting the social, economic, cultural, and political impact of women. At [Republic Services](https://www.republicservices.com/), we're proud of the women who are [leading the way](https://www.republicservices.com/about-us), not just in our company but in our industry and our communities.

For two consecutive years, Republic Services has been recognized on [Forbes’ Best Employers for Women](https://www.republicservices.com/blog/our-people-our-most-valuable-asset) list. This is a direct result of our efforts to support, develop, and attract more women to our industry and the company. By providing generous parental leave and offering benefits that support women at work and at home, we’re [creating an environment](https://media.republicservices.com/news-releases?item=122810) where women thrive.

We are proud of the work that we are doing and look forward to increasing the number of women at Republic at every level – from our technicians and drivers to the team members at our corporate headquarters.

In 2018, we launched [SheDrives](https://www.republicservices.com/cms/documents/sustainability_reports/2018SustainabilityReport.pdf#page=33), a recruitment campaign designed to broaden the driver candidate pool and increase the number of women hired for driver positions across the country. So far, this program has increased the hiring rate of women drivers by one-third, placing Republic above the national average.

In addition to the SheDrives campaign, we’ve also expanded our Women of Republic Business Resource Group, which aims to increase the level of engagement through cross-functional teamwork and provide mentorship opportunities.

Republic’s dedication to elevating women goes beyond the company and extends into the communities we serve. Through our [Committed to Serve](https://www.republicservices.com/committed-to-serve) initiative, the [Republic Services Charitable Foundation](https://www.republicservices.com/communities/charitable-giving) contributed $3 million to 29 local affiliates of three nonprofits to support small business revitalization projects. A number of businesses receiving support are women-owned, including [CarloMoni Hair Care](https://carlomonihaircare.com/) and [Leia’s Love Hair & Nail Salon](https://www.leialove.com/), in the Akron, Ohio, area, [Cully Central](https://cully-central.business.site/) in Portland, Oregon, and [Goss’up Pastas](https://www.gossuppasta.com/) in St. Louis, Missouri.

Republic Services remains committed to fostering a positive environment where women thrive personally, professionally, and in their communities. It is a part of our focus on inclusion and diversity, and integral to our 2030 sustainability goals.
