She shares Save the Children’s dedication to creating immediate and lasting change in the lives of children and families around the world. Since 2014, the Pfizer Foundation has actively supported Save the Children’s much-needed efforts to improve access to childhood immunization and family planning services for women in the African nation of Malawi, where millions of people make the equivalent of just $1 per day. “Life is hard there,” Dr. Lewis-Hall explains in this video. “And the burden of poverty often falls heavily on women and children. The people of Malawi want what we want: a society marked by equality and opportunity. And that’s where we come in.” Through their partnership, the Pfizer Foundation and Save the Children provide vital newborn services like checkups and immunizations, along with help and advice in family planning. “Our vision: keep families in Malawi healthy, and every new mother engaged in her future,” Dr. Lewis-Hall says. “At Pfizer, we believe that when it comes to healthcare, every individual matters.” Pfizer supports all 17 of the United Nations Global Goals for Sustainable Development, including gender equality, and it understands that a key to gender equality is access to quality healthcare for women.
