CHESTERFIELD, Va., March 14, 2014 /3BL Media/ -- Local CITGO Marketer [Petroleum Marketers, Inc.](http://www.petroleummarketers.com/)(PMI) and [CITGO Petroleum Corporation](http://www.citgo.com/Home.jsp) presented Amanda Simon, a ninth-grade teacher at Lloyd C. Bird High School, with $1,000 in school supplies as part of the CITGO Fueling Education Program. Simon was one of 109 elementary, middle and high school teachers across 27 states and the District of Columbia who won customized packages of school supplies tailored to the needs of their specific students and classrooms. "Winning this award was so exciting for all of my students and colleagues. I entered the contest hoping that I would get lucky and my wish came true. This prize will benefit my students for years to come," said Simon. "A big thank you goes out to CITGO and PMI for supporting education in local schools." CITGO Region Manager Arnold Walton and PMI Marketing Manager Steve Firkins delivered the supplies in January and helped Simon and her enthusiastic students open the boxes, which included a digital document camera with microscope attachment. "CITGO has a history of helping its Marketers support wonderful organizations like the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). The CITGO Fueling Education program is one of the most rewarding community assistance initiatives that CITGO has established. It's wonderful to now make a difference in the education of area students," said Firkins. Through the CITGO Fueling Education Program, teachers, student teachers and PTA/PTO members could win $1,000 in school supplies for their classrooms. Three $1,000 winners were randomly selected from across the CITGO marketing footprint. An additional 25 teachers that submitted entries through Instagram received $1,000 in supplies and a $100 CITGO Gift Card through a random drawing. Petroleum Marketers, Inc.
