**Plenary Session 9

Original Conference Board Research: Advancement of Women in the Workplace**

**Featuring:

Elise Wohbold,** Research Associate II, Human Resources Management Research, The Conference Board of Canada

The forum will conclude with a discussion of The Conference Board of Canada’s groundbreaking study on the career advancement of women.

There has been a great deal of interest recently in initiatives that have successfully increased women’s participation in the workforce, and some experts have argued that women have, in effect, “arrived,” and no longer warrant any kind of affirmative action. Others point to the fact that, while women make up a majority of the workforce, they remain woefully underrepresented at executive levels.

The Board’s research analyzes the current status of women in the workforce, and uses data on higher education to project change in the years ahead.
